About This Site

Welcome! This site follows our family’s 300-day long adventure across Africa in 2013/14. We hope that it will inspire you to embark on new journeys. If it does, you should find here some useful ideas and resources for travelling away from the modern world.

The core of the site is the Travelogue, which comprises a series of posts with descriptions and photographs of the places we visited. Conrad’s Bestiary includes beautiful and unusual animal photographs. Enoch’s Facts is a collection of eclectic trivia, as observed by an 11-year old. Preps & Gear is a complete list of everything we brought with us for a 300-day journey. Beyond the Odyssey includes updates from more recent trips to Africa. You can also buy the book, published in 2019, which tells the story of our journey in the Get the Book section.
